Arguably, the easiest & most frequently used method for dating cutlery.

Do you have a unique/rare stamping ??

Care to share a pic & a bit of history ??

Just as important ... a stamping that's just a little (or, a lot) suspect.

Here is one of my favorite Case tested era tang stamps. It is pretty rare. This one is a 9201R.

This is a little two blade WR era MOP with no liners.

Wow Jan, the handles and bolsters are in great condition for it's age!

I have an old bone handled knife that has a strange marking on both sides of the single blade...any idea what it means ???

I do not. The stamping is indeed unique .. to me anyway.

I have never seen it either and have tried to research by looking for asian tang markers but I am having zero luck

I guess my next option is to look for somewone who speaks Farsi !!! It is a beautiful bone handle jack knife probably from the late 1800s or early 1900s , thick blade , pinched nickel silver bolsters ... a real perty knife

ok, so maybe it is an arabic script.  Let me check and see if we have someone that can look at it for us
