Colorado: “Virtual Meeting” Scheduled April 13th to Address Target ...
The US Forest Service is reviewing target shooting in the Arapaho and Roosevelt National Forests along Colorado’s Front Range. Citing “increased danger in a heavily populated area”, the Service created a Sport Shooting Management Partnership to look at target shooting over a landscape of 625 square miles. The Partnership is between the Forest service, Colorado Parks and Wildlife (CPW), and the four nearby counties of Larimer, Boulder, Clear Creek and Gilpin. The shooting sports organizations were not invited to participate in the Partnership and thus far, have not had input into the review and planning process.
But, on April 13th, a “virtual meeting” is scheduled to take public comment and questions and presents the first opportunity to engage in the process. Information about this meeting and how to participate can be found on the Partnership website at www.sportshootingpartners.org.
There is potential for the Forest Service to close hundreds of thousands of acres to dispersed recreational shooting, so it is extremely important for all those who target shoot on Federal lands along the Front Range to get engaged in the process starting with the April 13th meeting.
I fear you may be right. As Charles said, the war is far from over
Next up. have his patsies in big cities and certain states try to enforce such a ban and then start class action law suits against companies that knowingly make such ammo! Then move once more on his executive order!
Well, we won a battle but the war is far from over!

Clint, you are correct. The best way for the police to defuse a problem is to bring overwhelming force to the situation. In most instances this can be done in sheer numbers and/or without deadly force but in some instances the threat of deadly force or actual use of deadly force is the correct response.
For instance in the situation of man with a machete:
1) are potential victims nearby?
Y: Use deadly forces
N: call for back up and threaten the use of deadly force
2) potential victims are not near but man with machete refuse the police demand to disarm. Is the situation stable or is getting worse? Is back up on the way? Will potential victim be availble soon?
These are just some of the potential scenarios that the police officer must weigh while determining his next move which will probably take place within seconds (or less) when arriving at the scene.
And if in the scenario it appears that the situation can potentially get worse, the police officer will most likely have to use deadly force -- not the action they wants to take but it will be the action they were trained to take and it will be the action that ultimately was done to safeguard lives.
In my personal and professional opinion, don't sell your 1911! It is a gun which shoots a beanbag round which have been out there for over 20 years. Departments now have less than lethal weapons much like this one.
A LEO responds to a call of a dirtbag with a machete.
"O-God he has a big knife!" "Twenty-five send backup. Suspect is armed with a machete type weapon and is threatening people in the mall as well as me."
Now going through the mind of the officer who is equiped with sidearm, Tazer, two barrel bean-bag pistol, pepper spray and collapsible baton, "What should I do." Well it is too late as the dirtbag just cut your head off rookie!
It is much easier if you have your sidearm. "Dirtbag waving a machete at me and others at this mall." "Hummmm!" KA-POOP! KA-POP! KA-POP!!! "Twenty-five...send the meat wagon." Problem solved.
Jan, the first thing that jumps out at me is, if it looks just like a real handgun, it would be a good way to get yourself shot by a real handgun.
I personally don't think it would be very effective in most instances. So many criminals today are hopped up on drugs and if they have already spent time in prison are probably buffed up from working out all the time. Rodney King was a good example. A tazor didn't effect him. He just laughed at the cops when they tazored him. And when four of them tried to hold him down, he just threw all four of them off like they were rag dolls.
All we can do is hunker down and keep our legislators repeating our names in their sleep. I will vote for the next president who will reverse all of this President's executive orders and begin to dismantle all of the little federal agencies which is not needed. Turn over many of the current agencies to the States for their individual administration. We can control them better when they live next door to us...right Steve? Hang tight. Ron I agree with you...however the war is on and the President refuses to join.
