Peter, don't feel bad. you need to register BB guns in Chicago as well. And I think if the air rifle shoots a projectile over 450 FPS you need a FOID car. It's a money making racket.

i honestly live where you can see the "bad guys" carrying guns like ys nothing... they could careless. their lives,jail.. it doesnt mean anything. now as sad to me as that is. my LIFE DOES MEAN SOMETHING TO ME AND MY KIDS AND THER AROUND ME... in NJ the LEGAL ANS MOTTO FOR GUNS comes from a song lyric ..which goes like this and is the TRUTH!!. "i would rather be judged by 12 then carried by 6!" .. @CHARLES.. EVEN IF YOU USE IT TO ONLY SAVE YOUR OWN LIFE!!! --in NJ..if the gun is nt yours,regstered,,,anything like that... you will SERVE TIME JUST FOR HAVING THE GUM..nevermind why you were using it. also ..in some cases some folks have gotten an extra year PER BULLET!!!! -- @ charles -my fieend served 3 months FLAT! for a BLOW DART GUN he made in WORKSHP IN SCHOOL ..it had his gradutaing xclass year on it and school colors and all... years went by.. he was 24 and it was in his trunk of his car since basically 12th grade!,, well bad idea.. COPS CHARGED HIM WITH POSSESSION OF DEADLY WEAPON. the judge even asked to see the blowgun... asked my frend why he made it... he said because he was told he ws allowed to by the teacher.}{remember he made this when he was a minor!!!}- LIKE I SAID IN THE END 3 MONTHS flat!..HE WAS NEVER ,EVER THE SAME!... ..i wish someone could show me the justice that was served..-amd f your wonderig what this has to d with 2nd amend rights.. its that NJ wants to squeeze out even the thought of owning a POCKET KNIFE{the law for pocket knives is"THE LAW IS UP THE POLICE OFFICER"--- anyway i just wanted to point out that over a school project- hand spun wood blow gun .. THAT WAS ACTAULLY A WORK OF ART!!.... was deemed a WEAPON!!!.. and they jailed my friend.. to thi day.. and due to that charge,,he still cannot register a gun legally! - this is how this all ties into the 2nd amend..-
