The online community of knife collectors, A Knife Family Forged in Steel
I recently acquired a very RARE Tortoise Celluloid handled Press Button Knife Co double switchblade with a very unique blade! I believe these were made for Podiatrists for cutting off corns, etc. I have only seen one other of these knives and it belongs to one of the members of this forum. I've been avidly collecting switchblades for over 30 years and I've only seen two! It's a very rare and very cool old knife!

I also have a longstanding interest in auto's ..&.. have never seen one of these.
I also have a # of "corn razors" ..&.. other tools for the same purpose .. none of which have a blade shaped like this.
Not saying it isn't ..just.. what is your basis for the "podiatrist" application ???
.
I would have guessed something more along the line of the wire stripper groove typical of an "electricians / lineman's knife".
With the flat tip being similar to the std screwdriver blade of the same design.
That`s very interesting , of the 2 ive seen all in tortoise , thanks for showing it mark . JJ
Mark,
Excellent find and we would LOVE to see the advertisement also. Being able to see an model that has survived and how it was marketed is just awesome!
Now that would be cool !! I too love the history of the cutlery industry. There's nothing like an old add to clinch it ..&.. they're simply sooooo cool !
So, Mark .. your profile indicates you currently reside < 10 miles from where I grew up. Mom still lives on the family farm up there .. about half way between Grove & Gays. I've one brother living in Grove.. another in Readstown ..&.. a 3rd not far from Rolling Ground. Would bet we know some of the same people .. that's rather unique !!!

I have a friend who has an old advertisement for the knife and it states that it's a Podiatrist's knife. I haven't seen the ad yet, but I'm in the process of getting a copy from him to confirm it.
Hi Mark,
That is my first photo of that podiatrist auto. Thanks for sharing.
Greetings Mark..
