Ron - Thank you for all of the wonderful comments. Unfortunately, the handle is not leather, as I would certainly prefer, but a plastic handle. All of the hardware came from our local ACE hardware store. i do like to support our local businesses when I can. i live in a smaller community and enjoy having the businesses that we do have and try to do my part in keeping them open. I have been doing wood work for about 3 years now. I really enjoy playing with wood.

I don't know what your prior experience with woodworking is? But this box certainly looks like it was built by a professional - As in, someone who has spent many years crafting similar projects.

Skill level aside - from a purely aesthetic perspective - this box is flat-out beautiful! I mean you knocked it out of the park, my broster! I really like the hardware you used, also! Love the brass! Is that black leather on the handle? And what about those latches! Nice touch with those tips appearing to have a similar, matching material on them. Where did you come across that hardware, if you don't mind me asking?

I need you to do me a big favor. Reach over your shoulder, give yourself a great big pat on the back and an even bigger "atta-boy" for a job superbly - I mean stupendously - done! Bravo, mate!

I know for you this must have been easy but i look at that box and think EXCELLENT craftmanship!
