The online community of knife collectors, A Knife Family Forged in Steel
This is a yard sale find. The seller says it is 1940's vintage. I could find no makers mark but it is a stout 11 1/8 inch long with a blade of 6 1/4 inches. Someone had tried to get the rust off but should have done a better job. $10 bucks

Thanks Robert, JJ, John. Steve for the comments and information. I haven't had any time to research on this one but I really appreciate your help. I stopped at that sale and grabbed it up because several others were looking at some other knives there. They got the most of the others but this one caught my eye right away. It does have a larger swell in the middle of the handle than most I have seen. I don't have much time to check out the local sales nowdays.
IMHO-Most closely resembles a PAL-RH36- But not quite a match- Every WWII Pal I've seen has a slight upstep in the choil area near the ricasso ( including JJ's picture)- Bob's does not- Also Bob's has a larger swell mid-handle than the PALs I've seen- Still searching --
Looks like a PAL RH-36. Different companies made knives like that in WWII.

Real sweet old knife, Bob.
I agree also Steve, it seems to have great steel. Thanks. Also thanks for the concerns yesterday. So far I am doing ok, but always good to hear from all my friends at iKC.
