Allright. A testing knife for my friend Steve Hanner.
Steel: 7mm thick Nicholson Bastard file.
Scales: Mystery wood, (I honestly don't know what it is, if you know, let me know.)
Pins: Stainless
With mosaic pin.
Sheath, 3mm thick leather. Saddle Tan hand dyed. Saddle Stitched with black waxed nylon.

Thanks for the compliment John, most of my file knives haven't turned out this nice either. So it's not uncommon to be unsure about ones own abilities.

As for the wood. The vendor I got it from is this one: http://www.bois52-3apl.fr/coutellerie.html

but I haven't been able to find a match in his inventory. It's too hard for Zebrawood (which is a touch on the soft side in my experience) but it doesn't really look like Bocote like you said. Way too light coloured.

Alexander, I'm on the hunt for the mystery wood. Could it possibly be Bocote or Zebra wood.?? Bocote is usually a little darker,and zebra wood usually has a few more darker stripes. Any recollections of where you sourced the wood?? As you are are half a world away from me, it would help to know if you sourced it locally or purchased it online.BTW, been wanting to try a file made knife for awhile, but I don't know if I can even come close to yours!! Beaufifully executed knife !!
