You are right Jan and that well is interesting to , I guess I should have had a drink of the water with it being a Holy Well but it did look very cold . On the walk round the Loch ,around three miles , it started to hail rather hard for a while . At least I got to see  a couple of the little critturs swimming though !

I saw an abandoned gold mine picture on a friend's Facebook page Charles , I think it was in Northern California . 

The picture was of an old spade stuck in the ground with an empty whisky bottle at the side of it , I felt that I could identify with the poor guy who had had enough.

John, we have a lot of those in the western part of the US.  We call them ghost towns.  A lot of them sprang up overnight when gold was discovered in our western mountains.  Many of them died just as quickly when the gold ran out.
