Amen, to that Alexander. I was at a " period correct" camp several years ago. In case you don't know, its a group that shoot black powder, throw hawks and knives, etc. Another knifemakeer there got very perturbed with me because I would neither sell or trade my first couple of knives that I had made with him. He just didn't get that there were flaws I knew about, that apparently he didn't see. He just couldn't grasp that I wasn't entirely happy with it, and was unwillingly to let that be my standard in the marketplace !!

That's the right spirit John. That's all I've ever done. Just try new things and techniques all the time. Make learning your goal and they'll start getting better all the time.

Offcourse, the better they become, the better you know where to look for faults as well. So you'll never be happy LOL.

Alexander, if you haven't figured it out yet, I love your knives, my friend !! You don't maintain, you attain!!  Although, I am no where near your skill level, every knife I made, I tried to do something new, unless I was not impressed with my previous attempt. I have been skeptical of trying my own file knife, but seeing what you can do, makes me want to try my own, when time allows !!

Thank you very much John. I have to say I'm pretty happy with those two you mention. They came out very nice.

I'll just try to keep it at at least this level then shall I ;-) ?

Alexander, I think you have finally got this file knife thing wired. These last 2 are beautiful !! I know you told me you weren't satified with your earlier attempts, but IMHO I would be thrilled to own either this one or the Steve "test knife".Truly, exceptional work !!

Thanks guys. I wish I could convey properly how tigh everything fits on this one. Without a doubt this is my technically most perfect knife.

It's not perfect but the fit on evverything is the tightest I've so far been able to achieve. And that goes for the sheath as well.

The stitching, groove and distances are the best I've been able to do so far. I'm really VERY happy with it.

Also, the wood looks a lot nicer in person. Sometimes closer to red, sometimes more pink. Pretty cool stuff. I'll have to see if I can find some more pieces of it somewhere :-)
