Hardbound (no dust jacket), 544 pages.   8” x 10-5/8”
Over 1250 illustrations
A good (a little bit dated) source on a fairly wide variety of topics including : armor, crossbows, swords, daggers, axes, cannon, pistols, bayonets, rifles, lances, machine guns, mortars, shotguns, howitzers, saddles, and even spurs.  This book goes all the way back to prehistoric day in some instances, so the reader can glean how things progressed through the ages.

Oh I love that book. It was one of my first. Like you state - a true encyclopedia of everything, but gives a great history of it all. Makes for broad and well rounded knowledge of our chosen subject matter. Good stuff.
