Hello Jan, This dagger was made by the Maranao people of the Muslim region in the Philippines island of Mindanao in the late 18th or early 19th century. The gunong is a self defence weapon and was traditionally carried by both men and women tucked into the back of a waist sash. This unusual gunong is one of the latest additions to my collection of Philippine edged weapons.

That is a beautiful blade!  Tell us more about it?
