Shown here is a very nicely done serpentine jack, Canal Street Cutlery's Bois D'Arc version.

Recently, one of my friends on iKnifeCollector asked me, "What's with all the small pocket blades?" He's used to me displaying the tactical style folders and big fixed blade knives...so this recent "traditional slip joint" run confuses him. In simple terms, I cut my teeth on the very traditional..."old school" style slip joint pocket knives. My very first knife...which I still have...was a slip joint stockman. There is something in the inherent simplicity that really appeals to me. Sure...some of this is "nostalgia" for me...but it's also because I like the use of "multiple materials" that often comes with traditional pocket knives. Sure...their not tricked out with Axis Locks, G10, Carbon Fiber and crazy steels...but they are just as cool...in their own unique way.

With each Canal Street blade that I get, I become more impressed with their quality and overall presentation. Everything on this knife is well executed. From the packaging to the knife...to the beautiful handle scales...all provide "second kind of cool" in large amounts. Truly a joy to add to my collection!
