Good looking older Randall.  I have one of that model on order, have to wait a couple more years before they deliver.

This old westinghouse micarta is well sought after today.  Not only is it a stunning knife, an older Randall but the materials appreciated by collectors and makers alike

Nice job John! Gorgeous knife Paul.   The Randall's are super nice people, and Im sure could help you out with your questions.   Definitely one of the best investments out there!

Paul-First off, that is a model 24 Guardian Randall, first introduced in 1978, and still in their line today. The handle material is what is called old yellow Westinghouse micarta, sometimes referred to as " old Yeller". It is a paper micarta much sought after by collectors. This micarta deepened in color over time,much like old ivory. The reason I say this is because paper micarta can be scrimmed, while linen micarta or wood can not be. The earliest Guardian had a fishtail butt, but soon changed to the handle shape you have .In the first 4 years of production, the sheath changed something like 5 times before they settled on one in 1982. Yours is likely one of those early variations .In addition, I do not recognise the scrimshaw artist "M" with what may be another letter after the M (can't tell in the photo). Rick Bowles became the "official" scrimshaw artist for Randall in 1981, and still is today.Of course, someone could have scrimmed it after market, but from all indications your knife was most likely made between 1978-1981.You might try emailing Randall Knives and see if they can tell you who the scrimshander was. A noted scrimshaw artist can add a great deal to the value of your awesome knife.

Teally nice looking knife Paul. No help on info from me except that old Randalls can be valuable. Im sure you willget so e good help in here.
