CRKT is an interesting knife company in that most of it's models represent reasonably high value. There are people out there that are perfectly fine with the fact that all of CRKT's products are made overseas; there are other people who won't touch a CRKT knife just for this reason. While I prefer American-made products, I'm not completely opposed to foreign-made knives and have many in my collection; specifically from CRKT.

I still have the first CRKT knife that I ever bought. Candidly, the quality of that knife was "lacking" in many ways. That said, here we are a dozen or so years later and the knife still cuts just fine. I'm pleased to say that, overall, the quality of the products that CRKT now puts out have improved dramatically!

One of the things that I enjoy most about CRKT is it's approach to design. It regularly collaborates with a very diverse group of custom knife-makers and designers. Often, this results in more affordable versions of a gifted artisan's custom models. Multiple examples of this exist within the current CRKT lineup; Elishewitz and Carson are two of the most prominent.
The mass-produced variants of the artisans' knives are nothing to turn one's nose up at. They are solidly-built, aesthetically-pleasing, fully-functional knives.

All this has been said to provide a backdrop for CRKT's new 15th Anniversary model of the Carson M-4; denoted as the M4-2 Limited Edition. I'm a huge fan of the M4 and consider it to be one of the best mass-production knives of all time. As a larger EDC knife, it absolutely rocks. My one complaint with it...and it is the same complaint that I have with most CRKT products is the choice of steel. In this day and age, there is NO reason why CKRT's top-level steel should be Aus8a. In any event, the M4-2 LE is a limited edition release to celebrate CRKT's 15th Anniversary. It is a smaller version of the M4 and comes with attractive bone handle scales, black micarta bolsters (I think that it is micarta; not 100% on this). The beautifully polished blade is activated with the Outburst technology. Etched on the left-side of the blade is the phrase, "15th Anniversary Limited Edition". Nice! The knife comes with a decently-made wooden case with green bedding allowed for the knife to rest in.

Though the M4-2LE is nicely-sized for general/light-duty EDC, this little fellow won't be a user. I'm going to keep it as a collectible display knife...simply for the coolness (or, as Nutnfancy likes to say, "the Second kind of Cool").
