I have to admit DLKG hit it on the head for most of us but I am willing to bet it wa the side by side that made it clear LOL

So your wife does not get the beauty of the birch (burl?) scales with the red liners, married to the simplicity of the Elver's blade, tucked ever so unassumingly into the low-profile but very sturdy welted leather sheath?  

If that's the issue, then buy a cheap outdoors or kitchen knife & lay them side by side.  She'll get it.  

If not (& don't worry, it's not horrible if she doesn't), then take her shoe shopping.  Compare some incredibly cheap Prada-wannabe shoes with the Pradas.  Then take her purse shopping & compare some crappy knock-off with a Coach or Kate Spade, or no doubt the many other quality purse and shoemakers you have access to that we do not in America.  Encourage her to buy something new -- new shoes, new bag, both...  And some nice, but not overly-priced, jewelry.

Even if she doesn't understand completely (it will probably be the "Of all things, why knives?" question), you can always remind her than she likes nice things too -- bags, boots, necklaces.  She may or may not be behind your knife-collecting habit yet.  But at least it will give you an excuse to pick up your own new pair of boots, new backpack, & a piece of pocket jewelry of your own.  :)
