PEI is the generic form of Polyetherimide.
Ultem® is the branded name for the same material by GE. Early 80s?
The FreeTiger® website page for that knife says "PEI/Ultem"
Side note : The '®' is an ASCII code <ALT> and "0174" on your keypad.

You got it, Kevin! I meant to list the scales as Ultem in the description (or maybe the generic PEI -- is "Ultem" trademarked?), but forgot in the stream of consciousness writing of the description there. I could edit the description, but the interaction here in the comments is more fun for me!
