When it comes to fixed blade knives, I've felt that SOG was a bit "so-so". In simple terms, the "really good stuff" was over-priced and the blades more moderately priced just didn't have the level of quality that I like. Well...they MAY have bridged that gap with their new SOG NW Ranger 2.0. This is a sub $60 knife...comes with a leather sheath (decent...too bad the snap strap isn't fixed into place), great handle "gription", a nicely moderate blade size, excellent jimping...and decent blade steel (Aus8). Oh...I forgot to mention how light it is; good traveling companion! In a nutshell, I was pleasantly surprised by this knife.
