Thanks Tim. Full disclosure - I am still buying blade blanks, not  forging my own. As Jan would likely add ... yet. :-)

I'm still very new to this, I made one Jantz kit, then started buying blanks, mostly from Premium Knife Supply, but I still have one Jantz blade as well.

I'm not sure forging is in my future any time soon - mostly because of space in a small townhouse. But I might get as far as buying steel bar stock some day and cut/file then ship it out to a professional hardening/tempering service. I was surprised when I found at least one place that would do it for around $6.50 and shipping.

Talking to  my wife last night, I recently skinned my first ever squirrel - deer are no problem to me I have done many - I joked I should make a tiny gut-hook squirrel skinner, maybe 2 or 3 inches long. She agreed that would be hilarious, especially if I make one for the former Airborne Ranger friend who got my last knife, since he's a huge guy.
