Hi J.J.,

Take a look at this catalog page I found.  I don't know exactly the years this series was produced, do you?  It lists the second blade as a"spey" & third blade as "pen" but I agree that my knife has modifications all three blades.

Here's the usual configuration...

Msin blade more closely resembles a wharncliffe blade, what dould be a sheepsfoot, now is closer to a small clip and the remaining blade has been reprofiled into a nice pen/detail blade.  All look to be nicely done and specific to someone that likes to whittle.

good looking imperial stockman

Great question, I believe he did do some whittling although I don't have much information on that. He was a jack of all trades like so many from that generation.  What modifications do you see?

Paul, did your grandfather happen to do any whittling?

The changed blade geometry looks like modifications made to help with carving.

Very helpful thank you.  I certainly intend to use ti well and pass it along to my son/grandson someday.  I would love to have some documentation (catalog, etc.) electronic or otherwise to add to the heritage.  Any ideas?  Thanks again.

It appears to be a 3 blade Stockman. The blades have been used and ground a lot but most Stockman knives had a larger clip point blade, a sheep's foot blade and a spey blade. The shape of all of  the blades have certainly changed.

Paul, Here is an Imperial Date guide. From what I can tell, it looks like it was from the 1946-1956 era.
