for people  who like to know....

i can think of NOTHING that is not not great about this knife in use      i used it a lot for all kind of tasks and it is still perfect and sharp

now after a few months i can only say  its a little large in the pocket and in public.... so a few weeks ago i switched to  a new knife

because the new smaller gekko was not available yet i chose  another italian "littlebitlookalike"....the viper ten !         i will post its pic later today

thanks !   about the steels i know that the " lower end" knifes come from china or taiwan and go directly to the us to SMG  some are only around 50 $

the tactical "chieftain" is made in the usa (1095 steel ) and 200 $

the italian knives are top of the line and around 250 $

so.... what you pay is .......where is comes from !  ;-)

ill let you know how the gekko holds out in time.... and oh btw  soon there is a new gekko coming ( a little smaller )  with a G-10 handle  ( gekko 1503)  a more urban edc

Nice bird-watcher themed photo!

This knife caught my eye recently, much to my surprise.  I'd been kind of writing off Steel Will because of their lower-grade steels (I have Kershaw for that, & Kershaw seems to have pretty good quality control on their cheaper steels).  But then this one with the N690, & the Micarta scales, & those incredible grind lines...

If you keep saying good things about this knife, Kees, I'm going to have just that much harder a time resisting this not-so-small beauty. Arg!

four weeks ago the new steel will gekko 1500 arrived by mail
and it never left my pocket ever since
it feels, cuts, carries and looks so good it has become my new (big) edc
the natural shaped edges are just fabulous
this high-end backlock folder is made in italy exclusively for SMG (forest hill NY) mainly for the american market
all gekkos are numbered and i am the proud owner of one of the first 100
if i compare this this knife with my my new buck 547 open season ( a sort of simular knife ) i must conclude the gekko is really better ( finish, materials, sharpening, balance, looks )
so hunters, bushcrafters, collectors and edc-people.......look out for this knife
its a serious one
