Alec, wrong again my friend !! This is  an Italian bayonet made by the Fabbrica D' Armi Di Terni (Firearms Manufacturing of Terni ).  Terni was a big manufacturing center in Terni, Italy that was heavily bombed by the allies during WWII for that reason. However, this bayonet  was the standard rifle bayonet of the Italian Armed Forces in both World Wars. It was designed to fit the M-1891 6.5 mm. Manlicher -Carcano rifle and most M-1891 carbines. The scabbards were made out of leather with brass fittings (like yours) , leather with steel fittings, ribbed steel, or smooth steel. The A.R.E.T. 1932 marked on your scabbard is seen on a lot of the scabbards like yours, although some were unmarked-- I have yet to find out what that stands for, and believe me I've looked !!   BTW, here is a pic of another Terni bayonet with clearer markings---

"The photos in the previous post are of an old German pruning type knife I just aquired. It surely is interesting, and quite old."
