In today's "civilized" world, there isn't much use for a dagger. Still, this somewhat obscure platform has played a big role in knife history. In many regards, daggers provide interesting peeks into the history and culture of various parts of the world. Generally, the word "dagger" seems to be commonly affiliated with Medieval Europe, though it also enjoyed popularity in the Arabic, East Indian and Oriental parts of the world as well.

The version that you see here is the Schanz Dagger, from the "Boker Plus" series. Candidly, this is a nice take on the dagger platform and the workmanship is quite good. Full-tang construction, 440c bead blasted steel double-sharpened dagger-point blade with nice linen micarta handle scales. This is one HEAVY blade. Mostly due to it's thickness at the handle tang; looks like 5/16", though I didn't put the calipers to it. This nice collector's piece would hold it's own in a tactical situation. They do come numbered...though I'm not sure how many Boker is producing. The dagger comes with a decently made leather sheath...which is appropriate given this design's WWII styling. Yet again, I am just plain shocked at how well the Taiwanese make knives. If "Made in China" has come to be "acceptable" in the blade world, then "Made in Taiwan" should be a ready indicator of something "better".
