And thanks for the turquoise warning. I didn't know. When I was young and in love, I used to get the missus opal jewelry, until a few cracked or the edges chipped and the stone fell out of the setting. Live and learn.
havent used it for fruit yet ( i got it only a few weeks ago ) but the pits are not deep and they have smooth edges i did use it for butter and cheese and i could get that of quite easy
i think its a good usable knife the lockup is great and the clip super it feels comfortable although the grip is a little thin ( thinner than the tactility )
i prefer the stud becouse flippers stick out and sometimes make cutting flat ( "kitchenstuff") not easy
but thats a personal thing ofcourse
oh...and about the 6-series.. . the turquoise is stunning but it doesnt like moist ,sunlight and bumping a lot so .....
HA! Yeah, I'd like to be walking behind someone who was carrying one of those tip up... Gotta love the simplicity of design on those. Some companies have one piece fixed blades wrapped with paracord or whatever for the handles, but I always think how impractical it is if you get something on it or stuck in it. Imagine trying to get egg yolk out of a ball of yarn. But just a stone set in damascus steel, man... the turquoise is nice, too. I love the hammered steel on the top of yours. It LOOKS great. How is it in actual use? One of the reasons I like larger blades (and prefer flippers) is I use mine to cut fruit often at work and I like to be able to wipe it clean with a swipe or two. For a time I carried Case or Boker trapperlocks with the thumbstud and because the blade isn't exactly huge, I would get apple or pear pulp/juice between the thumbstud and bolster I have to dig out. It's a minor thing, but why mess with it if you don't have to? So I'm looking at all the pits in the top of that blade of yours thinking I would need a toothbrush to clean it every time I used it. How does it work for you?
i carried a tip-down for years and if you are used to it it works pretty well i must say... but now i also prefer "ups"
btw.... what to say about the 6-series in Damascus/malachite thats a dream too dont you think ? ( but tip down LOL )
Agreed. Especially the name in English. If it was just the flower engraved, I could live with it, but I'd probably do the same thing and polish it out, depending on the depth of the engraving. Hopefully it's lightly done. The only Mcusta I have right now is the Ice Storm they made for Browning. Nice knife (I have a blue one), though it's a tip down only clip and I'm a tip-up kind of guy.
oh i know !! i like the 18 series as well richard !! but i dont like the laser engravings on the wood
i would like to get an " ieyasu " and than i can Always remove it by polishing ( love that wood although its stamina )
Dude, I'm VERY familiar with that webpage and have personally drooled over every one of those! I really more into larger blades which Mcusta doesn't do very often. There's the Katana and Tactility damascus (3.625") though my heart is set on the MC-18 series (3.75" damascus blade). Look under new products.
