Contrary to popular belief, there are some GREAT knives out there that don't cost much at all. Such is the case with the Ontario Knife Company blade shown here; the Spec Plus 10 Marine Raider. This is a 1/4", wickedly-shaped piece of totally badass steel. This knife is one heavy chopper! It may not have the reach of some of my longer fixed blade knives, but what it gives up in length, it makes up in heft. This is certainly a "user" knife. The workmanship is NOT flawless on it. The price tag is "unbelievably low" (think sub $35) and the sheath is...well, I'll call it as I see it..."junky". With nicer materials, better workmanship/quality and a top-notch sheath, this blade would be hitting the $200 arena. It's that good a design. As I understand it, OKC has discontinued the Spec Plus series altogether...so you ought to get one while you still can. They'll be super scarce in a couple of years.
