A small handle like that would also be great for skinning tasks.  That is one beautiful knife!  And very tactile sheath...

Actually the handle is small for the blade, but the owner has pretty small hands, but this is why it is a custom knife.
The steel is 1.2379 (D2), hardened up to about 60 HRc. The handle is leather, vacuum impregnated with linseed oil. The guard and heel are stainless steel. I don't remember the other dimensions.

What a very nice blade--balanced size between handle and blade, good blade profile--should make a lovely skinner, congratulations.

What is the steel?

I didn't have enough time to test the blade. By the time I was still experimenting with shapes. I only had time to cut some pastarma - this is dried, salted meat with some spices. This was the first time I use stacked leather for handle and it felt really warm and comfortable.

Very sweet indeed ..&.. in 5 days.
I like the stacked leather washers contrasting with the stainless steel butt plate & guard.

The broad curved skinning blade looks both tough & effective.

I'll bet it's comfortable in use.

I like it.

This was a gift for a friend of my father for his 60th jubilee. It was a really short notice, because just a few days before the party my father came in the workshop and said "You MUST make a knife as a gift! You have five days! GO!"

I like this very much!
