Here is another small front opening tab gent's folder by Phil Tham. It features a 2.5" CPM-154 wharncliffe blade, dyed silky oak scales, and stainless steel bolsters.

On a sad note, I just learned that Phil is not making knives anymore. So, the three I have will remain special to me.
Yup... and it sure is purdy. To me it almost has a grain like sycamore. Lots of nice wood comes from Australia (and I have knives outfitted various Australian woods) .... york gum, gimlet, and gidgee, to name a few.
Silky Oak is Australian it seems , guess that's why I hadn't heard of it ,

As you say Dennis that wood is something special , I haven't heard of it before . When I first saw it I thought it was some fancy Micarta until I read your description , I will have to look up silky oak .
Truth be told ... bought this one for the wood alone. However, after receiving it, started to appreciate everything from the blade grind to the fit and finish.
Any gentleman ought to be proud to carry that!
