appreciate your assitance john.  am not sure if its rosewood, may just be from sellers description.  walnut sounds good to me, in fact it would say it looks like walnut.  sorry bout the auto focus flash on camera.  keep your nose to the ground john.

Tim- 3rd attempt to reply-- For some reason I could type a reply but it wouldn't post?? Anyhow, have not yet found out much-- The tang stamp dates your knife to circa 1940-1964. Now I have a question- Are you sure the handles are rosewood? The first 2 in the model # indicates it is either rosewood or walnut-- Literally every example I can find so far is walnut-- Hard to tell the true handle color from your pic, as you probably used a flash, which tends to redden the colors- Obviously, rosewood is a much redder handle color--If it is indeed rosewood, it might indicate a much rarer limited production knife. No luck yet with the  " RELEASE LOCK TO CLOSE" blade etch either as to when or why they might have used that.- Still on the hunt !!
