Yep. metric alright. The knife is a distinct European design.  I've yet to see a production mushroom knife made in America.  The one I found made in England lacked a scale, but those made in Spain, France and Italy all have centimeter scales.  The Rough Rider is one of the sharpest Mushroom knives I've encountered  (of course I only have two other makers so far. You are right Chuck and Steve.  It does appear to be metric.  I got the 3/8 inch from SMKW's web site.  One inch equals 2.54 centimeters.  So 3/8 inch would be 0.953 cm.  I got the knife out and measured the scale with a ruler.  Each division is just a little over 3/8 in.  So each division must be 1 cm.

Yes it's a metric measurement. Maybe the 3 of us can go gather 'shrooms and have a cocktail party!!?

Interesting side note on this knife.  The scale on the handle is not in inches.  Each division is 3/8 of an inch.  So from 0 to 4 is an inch and a half.  One inch would fall between 2 and 3.
