Welcome Home...THANK YOU FOR BEING A PART OF OUR COMMUNITY

I should not have reported this knife to ebay, I guess but I do care about Novice Collectors being taken advantage of by the world.
Ebay they said they found NOTHING wrong with the listing Folks be careful I see more and More Counterfeits on Ebay.

Thanks Andy for the insight. When you bring these elements to light, I can see what you're talking about and a cause for skepticism and caution. I suppose if I saw something like this on the style/brand of knife I collect, this would seem obvious to me. But on this folder, without a stare & compare knife to consider, it wasn't so apparent.

OK - I just added you and Mike to my "If I ever collect Case knives, contact these guys first" list.

And the more I look at the blades the more I can see a grind/finish on them that is in no way consistent with the finish on most Case 6265 folding hunters

And the nail nick on the rear blade looks off...

The first thing that jumps out to me is the shield isn't set straight.  I'm also not certain that the bone handles shown fit the same "era" as what I'm seeing on the tang stamp.  I'm thinking it to be more of a Case "frankenknife"....made of actual Case parts, but made assembled to represent a made on date that isn't accurate.

The pins on both sides appear to have been altered as well, which is how I came about my response as well.  As someone who takes these apart and re-pins and even resets shields in...that's my opinion..and my opinion only.

I have to second Lars's question.

Being told that something is a counterfeit, is not the same as understanding what makes the item a counterfeit.  Just looking at the photos, I would have thought that it was genuine.  But I evidently do not know what I am looking at and recognize the features importance.

Good question, Lars.

I have plenty of CASE knives, myself, but the folding hunters aren't in them.  I'd definitely like to know also.

OK Mike...educate me please. For us non-Case collectors, what is it that makes this knife a countereit? Bolsters at the heel? The scales? Wrong blade type? (This is like a Find Waldo episode when I don't know what I'm looking for).

I have seen quite a few Cold Steel counterfeits, and CS even gives examples on their web site.

Thank you -
