Estate sales are usually organized with things prepriced and set out for viewing. I'm beginning to love these sales where the family has just unlocked the doors and allows you to go through the house and explore. A lot of times they don't even know everything that is inside. It can be a lot of work going through old boxes and finding nothing. Drawer after drawer with nothing but socks, underwear, and hair care products. But when you pull back a stack of shirts and there lies a knife it makes it worth the effort. Junk drawers usually gets my heart racing. Tiny pocket knives, advertising knives, or any type of knife or blade is possible. Sewing rooms are also a great place to find small MOP knives. These were made for ladies and their sewing needs that most people overlook. I've found a couple of knives in amongst sewing notions. Craft room can also yield knives. Youn never know when a lady snagged a favorite knife belonging to her husband to cut craft supplies and him always wondering what ever happened to the favorite knife he had tucked away.

When I found this particular knife it was in a box of tie tacs and bars, a few ties, and handkerchiefs. I saw a box marked Schrade and my blood pressure hit the roof! I carefully looked around and waited until the otherb guy in the room left. Then I picked up the box and felt weight. I opened it and out slid this baby! The wood wasn't particularly impressive but I liked its look. I opened the blade and the etch said Shrade Essentials. When I flipped it over I almost wet my pants. "FIRST PRODUCTION RUN"!!!!!! I had only seen this type of marking in pictures but I kew it's meaning and value to any knife. I carefully placed it back into the box and put it exactly where it was in the box, under ther ties. I took it to the daughter and asked her how much she wanted for the box. I needed a couple of ties. She looked it over and asked if $15 was too much. I smiled and said no because I was needing some ties and this was cheaper than new in a store. I gave her a $20 bill. I felt odd getting such a find and her handing me money back. Oh well!! It now holds a special place in my collection.
