Jeremy, this knife is just huge -- & that includes the handle.  And unlike the ESEE Laser Strike, that finger choil has never caused any hotspots.  It's sort of like an ESEE 5 on steroids.  I don't have a lot of occasion to use a knife as big & thick as this, but next time I decide to fell a tree & I don't have an axe, this knife should do.  :P
