I have a few trainers, they amuse the young teens without explaining lost fingers to the parents LOL

Oh sweet! Definitely one of those items that fit on the "Why didn't I think of that?" list.

This is my one and only butterfly - a Dragon Lock. I received it in 1990 as a Job Well Done from my manager. I can flip it around...hesitantly. Like you, I'd like to keep my fingers.  :-D

Ah!  Glad you asked, Lars!  This is a butterfly knife trainer -- good for nothing but play!  The Squiddy series are made of PVC, & have weights at the ends of the handles to give them more momentum & a better feel over all.  This particular model has an O-ring on both sides of the "blade" to quiet it down significantly -- otherwise the PVC gets really loud & clacky, not great for when there are other people in the room -- or on the same floor of the house.

Squid Industries also makes trainers with aluminum handles & steel blades, as well as live-blade balisongs, but the PVC Squiddy trainers are the lowest-priced of the lot by far. Given how much contact I have with the trainer blades, these lower-priced models are probably also saving me a ton in hospital bills!

OK..I give. I can't name that knife in three note....I know it not for gaping spark plugs...

What is it, who made it, and what's it used for?
