I intend to use this as a shop knife ..SO000 .. I machined a small finger notch @ the bottom of the front bolsters ..&.. re-profiled the edge to a lower angle.I also radiused all the edges of the Desert Ironwood scales ..&.. then finished it out using 600 grit wet/dry sandpaper.
.
Note: it was sharp when it arrived ..but.. I prefer a lower angle than what it had.
.
I've read good things about the Sandvick 14C28N ..&.. tempered to a 59 +/- 1 HRC .. it should handle the more fragile .. but sharper .. edge that comes with a lower angle. When I re-profiled the edge .. the steel did NOT roll over a burr .. as a softer steel would have. A good indication that the temper is truly as stated.
.
A very nice letter opener / office knife .. an even nicer shop knife w/ that wharncliffe blade.
.
!!! .. We'll find out when I start using it .. !!!
I like it!
