Welcome Home...THANK YOU FOR BEING A PART OF OUR COMMUNITY

I have to admit that I've never been a big Sunfish/Elephant Toenail collector. That said, the iKC GEC Buffalo Horn Sunfish run kind of tickled my fancy.

Shown here is the only other Sunfish in my collection; a GEC made, Bulldog Brand Sunfish with handles scales of Antique Amber Jig Bone. It's a nice knife and very well made. The handle scales are what really drew me to this knife; I think that they are incredibly attractive. There is a downside on this knife. Take a good look at the long-pull nail nick. See the serrations? Typical on Bulldog knives, right? Well the pull is so shallow that it's difficult to get a good purchase with my thumbnail. Add to that the fact that the backspring on this blade is super strong...and the knife is super hard to open. So...fortunately for me, AG Russell sells a great tool for opening really "tight" slip joint knives. You can sort of see the tool in the lower right-hand corner of the photo. It's called the "Steel Thumbnail".

As an odd aside, Bulldog brand knives have taken to showing Pit Bulls. If you look closely at the tang of the blade in the photo, you'll see that it's stamped with two Pit Bulls...fighting. I have to say that I find this a massive "turn off". I've had Pitt Bulls...and they are much like every other dog breed that I've had...which is to say very people friendly. It's not the breed...it's the human raising the animal. And dog fighting is evil. Nope...I'm not a Michael Vik fan. The second I found out that he was all "gangsta" and a promoter of dog fighting...and incredibly cruel to the dogs himself, he instantly became persona-non-grata with me.

I have to agree Chris, the scales are great.  Dont much care for the fighting bulldogs (or any dogs) for that matter
