Vintage Khyber Birdseye Folding Hunter

Circa 1980's Khyber Birdseye Folding Hunter with Brown Micarta Scales ~ The Birdseye Pivot Pin is Nickel Silver and the Liners are Stainless Steel ~ It has a Lockback locking mechanism ~ Closed Length is 4 inches and the Cutting Edge on the Mirror Polished Drop Point Blade is 2.5 inches ~ It Weighs 4.5 ounces and is 7 inches overall.

The Fit and Finish is amazing! This knife was made in Japan in the early 80's for KA-BAR Knives. I have heard that "Khyber" was a variant of "KA-BAR" but cannot verify it.

This is one of the nicest Folding Knives I have ever held in my hands. It is rock solid and quite hefty.

Khyber Knives were owned by Cole National Corporation of Cleveland ~ 1976 to 1983. They also owned Ka-Bar at that time period, as well. Khyber was supposedly their economy line? I believe I also mentioned that the name "Khyber" was a play on the word-name, "Ka-Bar." Which is kind of funny when you come to think of it.

Judging by how well this Khyber knife was made (the overall fit n' finish is superb) it would seem that someone neglected to tell the knifemaker who made it that it was supposed to be for the economy line? It truly is an excellent knife!

Here are a few pics of another Japanese knife that was made in 1993 for Kershaw knives. And, if you'll notice, it has Micarta scales...

The fit and finish on both the Khyber and Kershaw knives is on par with any Al Mar or Moki knife I have ever owned or had the pleasure of holding. In fact, I believe that this Limited Edition Kershaw was made by Moki? And all of my Moki knives are rock solid super stars in my collection!

Also, yes! The Khyber IS a recent addition, having come to me via an Ebay auction about a week ago. My winning bid was $40 and I would consider this knife to be a steal at twice the price!
