ha! I see.... I learn something about this... I have other vintage Girl Scout Kutmaster  has stamp "o" not like "R-3" this...

Michelle R--3 is a steel grade- Remington, Camilllus, Kutmaster and others used it- Can't find out much about its properties, as most references refer to commercial building materials  such as in rebar- Your Kutmaster was made in circa 1940-1950-
