Beautiful knife and, as others have noted, an amazing photograph as well. I love the gradient shades of purple that serve as a beautiful backdrop for the ancestral story that is being told in this picture. Beautiful. Simply beautiful!

Kees-What a beautiful knife & sheath, and a excellent piece  of your family history- I love the fact that although it has an elaborate sheath, the knife itself is elegant in its simple form and function-- Just shows that a knife does not need to be extravagant  to be a work of art--- That knife just begs to tell the story of its use and history. WOW

my dad kept it in his desk for 25 years .. it was always an indoor knife and he took care of it too  .... my grandfather was an artist ( painter )  it was in his paiter coffin ...i myself just keep it as a baby ofcourse

unbelievable that this sheath is still so great dont you think ? probably becouse it was in use and not dried out in some attic !!

Nice knife, sheath, and picture.  And I love it when a knife has a story like that.
