Nah, Craig had intrigued me in his "Sod Buster Love" thread about a Sod buster with a wharnie blade. I did it to see the practicality of the blade to handle ratio. Other than the fact that if your hands are wet/slippery you don't require a nail nick.

I remember the re-handle job, first of the year, but I really like the wharnie mod, Brad.  Got some carving in mind?
