Aesthetics are always part of my attraction to knives.  Maybe Dale was just projecting some frustration related to finding really nice looking knives that ends up being poor when it comes to performance (or even quality) -- something it can be too easy to be burned by, especially with all the choices we have in cutlery these days.  Someone definitely put some serious skill into the handle of this knife -- which also speaks well of the likely quality of the knife as a whole, so there's that.  And it is pretty!
