Here is an example of the stamping I am referring to that is used for dating a knife. There may also be a pattern or model # indicated on the obverse side .. such as ....

I apologize Dianne.

The "stamping" we use to date knives is the stamping located @ the base of the blade.

It will say 'CASE" .. "Case Bros." .. "Case XX" .. or something along those lines ..and.. contain other identifying information from which a precise date of manufacture can be identified.

Sorry 'bout that.

Your latest pic is a better pic of the shield & does help narrow it down to an era of production. The stamping @ the base of the blade will facilitate identification of the year of manufacture.

Re: your recently posted Case Zipper .. if you could please post a clear close-up of the tang stamping. That would facilitate identification of the year of production & greatly add accuracy to any estimation of its worth.
