Thanks for the info Ole, I have never heard that before about the Vikings. That goes way back.

Very interesting Ole, thanks for the response. I wonder why the town Frovarp is the same as my Grandmothers maiden name. Maybe Frovarp's founded the town and named it after them.

Ole, Yes my Grandmother on my Mothers side is Norweigian, her husband was Irish and on my Dads side - both were German. We love our Norwegian roots. My great Grandparents were Ole and Christine (Knutson) Frovarp and they were born in Frovarp, Norway. My 4-Great Grandparents were married at Fosnes, Nord Trondelag, Norway in 1757. My Great Great Grandfather was from Fosnes, Norway. Anyway my Grandmother spoke fluent Norwegian in the home until she went to school in North Dakota, where her parents settled after coming to the U.S. I still have her Norwegian Bible. She and my Great Uncle spoke to each other in Norwegian and i can remember when they talked on the telephone they would start out in English and end up in Norwegian.

Do you know where these places are in Norway? I was in Norway once when I went by train from Denmark and Sweden up to Oslo, but thats as far as I got.
