The knives are on thier way, lets have a little fun and get to know our neighbors

So here are the guidelines

Post a picture of your IKC Community knife with something unique to your area and enter it here.  Lets see how creative we can be with our own state or country

I will choose 3 impartial judges.  I think we run this from November 9th to November 24th.  Lets see if we can get every knife to show back up on here.  Ready, set, SHOOT YOUR PICTURES!

I'm starting to get some cool ideas for a nice picture. I'll see what I can work out. I hope the knife gets here soon!

Here are a couple more pics that I took just a couple of hours ago. The first one is just for reference. It's the main intersection and the heart of my little town. People are always amazed that we don't have even one traffic signal in our entire town and we are only 20 miles from downtown Los Angeles. As you can see by this photograph, at the center of town, in the busiest intersection, there are only stop signs, no traffic lights!

Take notice of those pepper trees across the street. In the second picture I will be sitting right there beneath the pepper trees and the large flagpole...

Here I am holding the Geppetto...

Once again, cheers from Ron and little Geppetto in downtown Sierra Madre, California!

I should also add that in the 2nd pic that I posted you can see a phenomenon known as "virga" occurring. Virga is a meteorological word that describes rain that falls but does not hit the ground. You can see the virga descending from that cloud formation. It was occurring all across the Los Angeles basin yesterday afternoon. It was very cool to watch!

Here is another photo that shows that thin cloud formation from which the virga can be seen falling on the left hand side. If you look closely you can also detect the skyline of downtown Los Angeles right smack dab in the middle of the horizon...

This is roughly 20 miles from Los Angeles and almost directly beneath Mount Wilson, which is a prominent landmark here in Southern California. This is where me and my Geppetto Whittler live.

Okay! Here is a pic that one of my friends took of me yesterday evening holding the Geppetto. We were standing on the hillside directly above the village I live in - Sierra Madre, CA. If you click on the picture and look over my left shoulder (my left, your right) you can see the silhouette of downtown Los Angeles framed against the skyline. You will also notice that the sun is setting and thus accounting for the very poor lighting of me and my knife. But, hey! It's the thought that counts, right?

Here's another one of that same sunset...

Cheers from Southern California!

Thanks, Ron!  My wife tells me I'm cheating this way, though.  Maybe she is right.  I'm going to have to try some other things, maybe setting Ike in the garage window looking at the back yard.  I wonder if Ike could pose on the dashboard of the pick-up looking at snowy downtown?  The light is going to be tricky.  This might be fun.

Rusty, those "practice" shots are amazing!

You're an inspiration, my friend! I can hardly wait to see your "real" pictures when snow stops falling. Stay warm and keep your powder dry!

Cheers!

It came!  Boy, I love Saturday mail delivery.  Since the snow has been falling all night and day, it is not going outside any time soon, but I may have a way around that by setting it in front of some photos I already took.  And maybe I'll start calling it "Ike" instead of "it".  Here are a few practice pics......first, Ike goes to college, then he trys to cross the street.

This should be a lot of fun! Tomorrow I'm gonna hit the road with my Geppetto and my camera to see if I can't find some local landmarks to pose him with.

Sounds awesome Jan.

I got my knife today and the first mission was an awesome one. The New Club knife escorted me to a campfire where we whittled a stick before giving it to the four legged friend for a chew toy. Then the Wharncliffe opened a box with perfection.

Hopefully I can get pics up tomorrow, we'll see how it goes.

Great knife
