What do knives have to do with Breast Cancer?

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month and the knife industry in general has come out en masse to support the cause. We have a couple examples on our website of knives and other items where a portion of the proceeds will go to various related charities that support Breast Cancer awareness and research. Companies like Spyderco, Buck, Victorinox, Ka-Bar, and many more have all set aside part of their production time and production line to pink-handled ribbon-emblazoned products with part or all of the proceeds going to organizations like Susan G. Komen for the Cure Foundation, National Breast Cancer Foundation, Roswell Park Cancer Institute, Breast Cancer Network of Strength, and HugLoveSave.

Knife enthusiasts the world over are the kindest, nicest, most supportive people you can meet and this is just another example of their generosity. All apple barrels have their spots, however. I've seen a few sites out there peddling pink items that may not be what you think. Make sure if you're going to support this cause by buying a sporty new pink knife that it displays the tell tale ribbon and that there's something in the description that states that some or all of the money are going to support a related charity and that you're not just buying another pink knife.

So, I say, Let's all get out our wallets and buy a new knife! (Like we need another excuse) Keep it for yourself, give it to the lady in your life, throw it in a box, take it to deer camp, whatever. It's an opportunity not only to show your support, but to get a new knife and spread some knife appreciation around.

I see the eBay auction for an iKC featured membership has broken the $100 mark with just under 6 days remaining, too.

Scott, do you want to collect donations from anyone who wants to kick in seperate from your auction? If not, I would be happy to collect them and donate them to a breast cancer charity in the name of iKC and its members.

Thanks Frank! That is very gracious of you to make that pledge. Knife guys are pretty giving folks, as you have shown us. I was surprised when I started researching it to see just how widespread the support for this effort is among the knife industry. Every dollar counts. Thanks again

Great idea! Let's open up our hearts and billfolds for this very worthy cause.
Scott, I'd like to propose a challenge to our members.....Even if I'm not the winning bidder, I'll donate equal to my high bid. I challenge each bidding member to do the same.
