Well that is a huge relief. I am glad to know that there is at least one other knifenut in the area. Most all of my friends and family think I am a little weird, because I really enjoy collecting and using knives. I just recently purchased my first GEC and I am already hooked. I got a model 25 Barlow with rosewood scales and a Clip point blade. The only thing I was a little disappointed in was the out of the tube sharpness. I am still a huge fan of spyderco, so I guess I am just used to my knives coming from the factory with a razor's edge.
Thank you for the nice welcome Ken. Much appreciated and good to be here. I found out about www.iknifecollector.com from Vince Roberts through his comparison of the Remington R-1123 Bullet to the GEC #23. I'm going to enjoy being here.
I want to thank you again for the fine Northfield 235109ECL in Burnt Stag I recently received from Blue Creek Cutlery. Have it in my pocket right now!!
Wow, that is COOOOOOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
As most people in Seattle say; "Please come to visit, but don't plan to stay"??
Don't tell anyone, but our weather isn't all that Bad!!!!
If you collect Case & GEC knives you are welcome here.

I have found for the most part knife folks are just good folks... That's great corprote promotion and good will to make it a part of their gross marketing budgets.... But keep it in the same sprit that the GEC guys did with Michael. Make it spontanious and the'll hook a client for life.
Hello Ken, Sorry for the late reply...been a busy weekend. I started collecting GEC's about year ago mainly the 73 and 23 patterns, but added the 53 and 54's to the list also! With so many handle options I decided to concentrate on stag's...which is hard enough to keep up with. GEC may be the new kid on the block, but their quality rivials that of knife company's 75 years ago...a wake up call for those still in business today. I heard they have a congress pattern comming out...this should be interesting. It's nice to find a group of folk's that collect GEC's, I think I've found a home!
Thanks Ken for the welcome. I am actually quite new to GEC. I was born near and grew up around Titusville before being "exiled" to the south. This nostalgia and product quality make these knives very interesting to me. I look forward to using and collecting these knives for years to come.
....a video on the whittler...yeah, Here's what I thought- when you and Roger go see him...since he's what like 40 miles away...take your vid camera. I'll edit it if you send it to me and then put it up. :)
I've had the chance to go that far North. But I fish for all
of them.LOL I fished Bass clubs for 25 yrs. But I built tires
for Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. 29yrs. Until I had a hip injury
In 2001 an retired at 48. But I also made replacement skirts for spinners for 12 yrs. while working , But now I've got a 28 ft.
pontoon boat with under water cameras , so the crappies ,white perch, big blue cats,an flat heads cats an strippers , I love to fish off the coast for tuna , snappers , Groupers an even trout in streams
I've got it as bad as knife collecting LOL
Ken, which pattern do you feel will be more valuable down the road?
I plan on leaving my collection to my daughter who is just 13yrs. old
now, but when she gets around my age 52. I've gotten one in an Ivory Casin Scout 1/85 made. I've been looking at those big Toes LOL. I don't buy nothing but Stag, Abalone,Pearl's & Bone in a few colors. I love Low Runs on my knifes,I could be wrong with that out look.
Ken
