Brad, if you're looking for a good Taylor Brand to start with, might I suggest the Buzzsaw Trapper.  You won't have to feel too guilty because the older USA ones are pretty hard to find and nobody in America (that I  know of) is currently making it .  It'll be a good one to take out in the woods and beat about.

Tobias, we invented "trash-talking". LOL

As a Domestic manufacturer of hand tools, I have noticed the improvement in Chinese quality for years now. They do pay attention to feedback, but their reaction time is slow due to their tedious R&D procedures. When I started in this industry China was 20 years behind in quality control, they have cut that to about 12-18 months.

As most know I love Schrade USA products. But while searching for those vintage pieces, I come across all the Taylor-Brand offerings and I find myself wanting to get a few. Haven't done it yet, but I am not ruling it out either.

Thanks Terry.  It's a good cutter and the fit and finish is quite good as well.  I've had it for a few years.  I don't use it a lot but when I do, it gets the job done.

Yeah, I hate to admit that the Chinese made knives are as good as the older knives but for those who don't pay attention to that detail, they probably won't notice the difference. I don't have a USA made Sharpfinger anymore but I do have a 65th anniversary made in China one.  Other than the blade etch and fancy tin it's pretty much the same knife.  Obviously it is not going to have as much value as a collectable but as a user, it is going to get the job done.  I know such comments will irk the "Made in the USA" crowd but that isn't my intention. I also try to buy USA when I can but I'm not going to call something junk unless it really is junk. Quite frankly, trash talking isn't the American way, at least not where I come from.
