Looking for info on an old Ka Bar

Hi, I've been pestered for two months by my dear old father in law about a knife he's had since he was young (he's 82). I've searched and searched online for a photo of this particular knife and any information about it. We know it's a Ka Bar...has a dog's head emblem on it and a stamp on the blade that says:

---- Cutlery Co. Olean N.Y. (can't read the first word).

He was offered $400. for the knife but that left him curious to what the value really is. Two weeks ago he took it to a gun and knife show and someone there valued it at $700. Now he's really interested in selling it but I have no idea if I should list it on Ebay or even how much to ask for it.

Someone please help...I dearly love my father in law but he's driving me crazy about this knife, lol.

Any information about it or it's real value would be greatly appreciated. I'm including a few pictures of the knife.

Dale, On the 100th Anniversary in 2004 Stewart Taylor of Taylor Cutlery buys all of Schrade's intellectual property, the Scharde trademarks and patents, tooling, etc...
United Cutlery, Smoky Mountain Knife Works and Blue Ridge buys all the existing Schrade Knife parts that the Old Scrade had not assembled into completed Knives. Taylor Cutlery later begins the new Schrades, which continues today.

Terry .. don't get me wrong .. the older Schrade is nice .. don't know 'bout the Taylor versions .. have been looking @ the SCALA's though. you don't by chance own one of these ?? if so ,, what do you think of the blade steel ??

Dale, I was just attached to the older Schrade Uncle Henry knives because I was very close to my grandpa and his name was Henry. He always carried either a Imperial or Schrade knife. He did have a few Case knives. IMHO the Taylor versions are ok knives but they can't hardly give them away. Sorry but to be honest I have never seen a SCALA. You have a complete desription or picture I could find out what and how good the blade steel is.
