Welcome Home...THANK YOU FOR BEING A PART OF OUR COMMUNITY

Hello everyone.

My wife and I are flying out to Maryland next week for our grandson's first birthday.

We would like to buy him his first pocket knife and would like it to be a Case. Does anyone have a suggestion on what to get him?

Would like to get him one every year...oh and I did see the Birthday knives but Nov.13th 2012/2013 are both sold out.

Michael, here are some pictures of the Junior Member knives.

2012

2013

Those are some beautiful knives...thanks for posting the pics, I wanted to see them but didn't want to bother you with it.

Glad you went to the trouble. Your grandson is a lucky young man.

Thanks again!

That's a good one. It will be a good start for him!

Well, went to three local knife sellers, one a Case dealer (nice Trappers & Canoe) not much else. Mostly Benchmade around here.

Called some local MD dealers who took the time to search their stock, Bass Pro couldn't help w/o item numbers and I couldn't find these on the WRCASE website.

So I combined the ideas of Max & Craig...I ordered the "My 1st Case" from the link that Max posted XXCUTLERY.

Heading out tomorrow, knife should be there Friday, B'day party on Saturday, will post a pic when I get back.

Thanks to all, this couldn't have happened on short notice with the help of the iKC community.

Hey, no bother at all.  Love to post my pictures.  Always glad to do whatever I can to help a fellow member.

Great pictures Michael! A new knife collector!

Way to start him off right!

See how a knife can bring a smile.....Great pic Michael.

Michael....

You know...I have the same look on my face every time I get a new knife.  Cute kid and a lucky one.  You have great times ahead.

Great Pics Michael!

Glad to see everything worked out!

Michael,

Nice to see a new, happy, and young collector.  I started my granddaughter out with one of those wooden knife kits.

I am sure it was just as chilly where you were in MD as it was in Easton, MD for the Waterfowl Festival, but it was mostly sunny.  Glad I had my N-2B (cold weather flight jacket - with hood) on.

Most of the paintings and other artwork were out of my price range, like the Duck Stamp prints (the print from which the federal duck stamp is produced each year, but it was nice to chat with this year's artist.  Carved decoys, while beautiful, seem outrageously priced, for my wallet.  Great crab soup from street vendors, though.  The crab cakes weren't bad, but have had "crabier" ones.  The deep-fried clam strips were pretty good.

All worked out great!

Thanks to everyone for the help and kind words. He will probably end up with all the suggested knives at some point.

The "My 1st Case" is a nice knife and the xxcutlery.com site really came through on short notice.

Think I will start looking for Christmas knife now, I can really get in to this collecting by proxy thing ;)
