The online community of knife collectors, A Knife Family Forged in Steel
While the GEC #5383 Cuban Stockman and #2352 Pioneer are two of my favorite EDC knives, I am not fond of Spey blades. Oh I know, they're "Traditional" and I suspect that's the reason they're there, but I still don't like 'em.
So whenever I get another GEC with a Spey blade I get out the Dremel tool and spend an enjoyable afternoon on the patio turning those Spey blades into nice, pleasingly functional, Spear blades. I work slowly, so as not to draw the blade's temper, and carefully so as to get the shape and contour "just right", and I end up with a blade I like and enjoy using.
I would love to see a nice #2382EC Pioneer with Muskrat and Spear blades, but until then I guess I'll just have to make the Spear blades myself.
Does anyone else engage in this insane form of butchery..........??
