Being farily new to knife collecting, I like the suggestion to get involved.  It is easy to be intimidated by seasoned collectors who have so much more knowledge and not to mention alot more knives. This site to me makes it easy  to get involved and feel at home no matter what your level. I encourage people new to knife collecting , me included, to not be afraid to start a discussion or a blog on knife information you have or want to know. I did worry about posting repetative  stuff on the site, but it seems everyone here is open to letting you have your say on something. Steve , Jan, or whoever, do you have any suggestions to the newcomers about the best place to post a particular question  or status ?

To me if you have a question say on a specific knife. post it in Forum with pictures and description. If you belong to a group that is active and you have a question the group might be able to answer post it there.

Status is just a way to tell everyone what you are up to and your status works the same here as it does on Facebook. Folks can see it in the news stream and comment or like if they so choose. Again it works the same as Facebook so if you have some experience there, many of the same things are here. Obviously it is different in that we are devoted to knives.

Here too is a word of caution to our friends posting knives on FB. That is changing and they do not want what they believe are weapons (guns, knives, axes) And are looking hard at changing policy for even allowing these things.

Another thing I will say, we are friendly and encourage participation. If you make a mistake and would like to make a change on something ask me or a moderator and we can remove or edit something you made a mistake on. Do not suffer in silence!  We are here to help!

Ricky,

I am very glad you have found this to be an environment where all knives and their owners are welcome.  You should feel at home, regardless of your level of collecting.  I have never been involved with so many folks willing to help, without making anyone feel intimidated.

So go ahead folks - start a discussion, reply to a blog, show us what you have, even what you want.  As Steve said, if you want to make a change, let one of us know.  The site is truly about the members.  My best suggestion?  Please enjoy yourself and have some fun..you are home

Though I likethe looks of ebony handles knives I do not see myself buying a traditional in anything other than bone or stag.
