Billy, those are beautiful! Just sold a H&R quarter horse sowbelly about two weeks ago, but made up for it later.
Billy, some great looking knives - thanks for sharing.
Really nice Rick
Thanks Ken, the North American Wichita Kansas (1921-1930) stock is a scarce one in good condition. The company was a started by Tom Ray, who worked for JBF Champlin as a salesman, out west, then with the CASE Bros., owned a cutlery company in his name and retired ,after working with REMINGTON UMC ,starting in 1941.
Need a bunch or brighter light!
This one I got from my mother-in-law, it belonged to my FIL and he got it soon after arriving from Italy in the early '50s. She gave it to me about 8 years after he died, and I looked at it and stuck it in a safe place until I found it again. It already had the "patina" on it by the time I got it.
Top picture before gun oil and a rag, bottom cleaned up, best as can be done without an eraser on a dremel. Still a usefull pocket knife.
Next is my newly aquired Case stockman that I might carry - nothing special, finish is "as ground", good all purpose carry.
And the two together, the Schrade is the smaller by a little bit, so I guess it's a medium stockman.
Thanks for letting me in! I have always been picking up knives over the years and I hate letting any go! I have always liked Buck, Schrade and Case, and in my latter years I am enjoying finding and or just looking at double and multi-blade pocket knives. Trappers are another favorite pattern of mine. Bad habit I have is that, like with guns, I don't do "wallhangers" or "safe queens" - gotta use them for what they were intended for, even if it's just til the next one strikes my fancy! ;-)
Nice users, Mike.
Nice knives Mike, thanks for sharing.
Nice pics, Mike!
That old Schrade still has a long life ahead of it. That gun oil made those old delrin scales look like new. Or, maybe they're just smilin' cuz you gave 'em some love?
Welcome aboard, mate!
I have another three blade Schrade coming, new old stock, that may become a safe queen. I got the Case because I got a REAL pretty (new) "In Search of More Light" Masonic Trapper, and once I unboxed it I knew it was not going to get carried often if at all. I like the blue so much that I turned around and ordered a blue Stockman to use, so the finish was not an issue. Now if I can find a Stockman with the same Masonic details, I'll have a matched set!
